Congratulations to Ross Taggart for winning the 2016 Duke University Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering Utku Award, awarded to the best peer-reviewed journal papers authored by CEE doctoral students and published before the completion of their degrees. Ross earned this honor for his paper "Trends in the Rare Earth Element Contents of U.S.-Based Coal Combustion Fly Ashes", which documented the potential for coal ash to provide an alternative resource for rare earth metals.
